Baby's Reflexes at Birth (03:22)
A human's physical development in the first 12 months is more rapid than any other time. Babies have strong reflexes and sense of taste and smell at birth. Their eyesight is not fully developed.
Walking and Other Human Milestones (03:28)
Babies grow and gain weight incredibly fast. They begin walking between nine and 18 months. Walking is considered a "milestone" in a child's life. Children experience milestones at different times.
Baby's First Year and the Terrible Twos (03:17)
Between 12 and 24 months a baby's growth slows and motor skills improve. From 24 to 36 months, called "the terrible twos," children are highly mobile and curious and tend to get into things.
Fine Tuning at Age Three (02:45)
Age three is the "fine tuning" of a child's motor skills. They can hold a pencil and draw basic shapes. Potty training is complicated and children must learn when they are ready.
Children From Three to Five (03:46)
Motor skills refine between ages three and five. Children with older siblings develop faster because of competition. There seems to be no correlation between motor skill development and intelligence.
