DESCRIPTION

The wit and wisdom of Father Martin brings to life eight general principles that have proven successful for helping the alcoholic begin recovery from their disease. First, he stresses than an individual's attitude toward alcoholism must change before that individual can begin to to help the alcoholic. He describes how to recognize and confront alcoholism, and reminds us that the alcoholic has no control over alcohol because it has become an addiction. Father Martin explains that the alcoholic must be made responsible for his/her behavior and that, in order to help the alcoholic, one must utilize all the resource people within the community. The final and most important guideline is to never become discouraged.
