An illustrated, 25-story language arts curriculum for transition age students to analyze community-based social situations

Do the Right Thing Student Reader has 25 stories featuring Maria, Bianca, Alan and Jerome as primary protagonists. Each 6-page story begins with a vocabulary glossary and ends with comprehension questions. Engaging and realistic illustrations support the story line. Text is written in a clear, easy-to-read style, with no more than 100 words per page. Stories can be read aloud in class or students can tackle them independently. Topics include: stranger danger, hospital visit, dealing with an accident and preparing for a social event.

The Social Competency in the Community Teacher's Guide provides several additional worksheets per story that assess comprehension, vocabulary and the understanding of the underlying social skills. Use the PDF for easy printouts of activity pages and full-color stories.
